Gallegos Horses

In dedication to Peaches and Sourboy

A little about me:

I am Andrea Gallegos. I live in Las Vegas, New Mexico.  I was born and raised on a ranch here. I own five horses and have been working with them since I was a little girl.  I rode my first horse when I was three.  We had about 35 cows but we sold them, so I have experience in cattle work also.  My ambition is to become a veterinarian and live on a big ranch.

That's taking up our last load of hay.

"He has galloped through young girl's dreams, added richness to grown women's lives, and served men in war and strife."    ~Toni Robinson

My dad, my sister, and I go on camping trips and we also buck hay on our ranch. Here are some pictures:

Me and Rebecca at the skyline trail.

This Rebecca on Holy and Ted is the pack horse

Information on the parts of the horse:

(Arabian)

This is a picture of an Arabian, but the parts are the same on every horse

"Where in this wide world can man find nobility without pride, friendship without envy or beauty without vanity? Here, where grace is laced with muscle, and strength by gentleness confined. He serves without servility; he has fought without enmity. There is nothing so powerful, nothing less violent; there is nothing so quick, nothing more patient. England's past has been borne on his back. All our history is his industry. We are his heirs, he our inheritance. Ladies and Gentlemen - the Horse!"

Written for the Horse of the Year Show by Ronald Duncan (1954).
